Design By Humans - 4th Anniversary Sale

NEW T-shirt Contest Site "Fightclubtees.com"

FightClubTees.com is a new t-shirt design site that deals specifically with mma and martial arts. It is good to see this site out, since there has been a surge of mma clothing companies due to mma being so huge. It's not specifically for MMA, but you can submit boxing designs, jiu jitus, kickboxing designs, etc. The current designs for sale are nothing amazing and some of the designs that have been submitted don't look that great. If you have time to submit a design, I think it's worth trying. The winning prize isn't so high like Threadless or DesignbyHumans, it is only $200.  So, if you have an original design laying around or you can come up with a design that you believe is worth $200 then submit it. I'm sure once FightClubTees starts selling more tees and become more popular they'll dish out more money to the winners.

Dream Level-1 T-shirt by Collision Theory

AJ Dimarucot aka Collision Theory is a beast when it comes to designing t-shirts or designs in general. He is certainly talented at composing some great graphics. A winner on Threadless, Designbyhumans, and various other competition sites as well as being commissioned from various companies like Nike, he continues to show why people love his designs. "Dream Level-1" is one of my favorite, if not my favorite design he's done. The colors are perfect and definitely stand out on the black tee. The use of negative space is very well done. AJ drew inspiration from the movie Inception, which is probably a reason why you see a tree grow so out of bridge. If you've purchased a DesignbyHumans tee, then you know that the quality of the shirt is very good, true to size, and the printing if very well done. For $19 plus shipping, I say this is a shirt worth wearing.

Inspiration : Mathiole

It's always great to see traditional media mixed with digital media and Mathiole's designs never disappoint. You can see many of his designs printed through Threadless and Designbyhumans t-shirts, as well as regular print media. All of designs use his signature watercolor style that actually was done before the computer is involved. I'm a fan of watercolor and I try to implement it into my designs when necessary, because it's so free.  Here is one recent design that Mathiole was commissioned to do for a bank. This shirt designed by Zerobriant is now available for purchase. I personally thought this was the design that would've won the whole 10k competition, but I'm wrong. Ok, so my submission didn't make the top 24 at the DBH 10K this year and there are plenty of other designs that I thought should've made it. There's always designs that make the cut and I feel very strongly that they shouldn't have been on the list. Zerobriant's design is one of my favorite, because it's so creative and works very well with the use of negative space. There's a design no matter how you view it, whether it's upside down or vice versa.

Waves Crashing on the Scubrella!-Contest Entry

Here is my contest for the DesignByHumans 10K contest. I always had this idea of this scuba diver holding an umbrella and thought it was creatively funny. I added the fish for more of an ocean feel, plus I decided adding crashing waves to the design would give the design something little extra. I have this design on a navy blue, white, and turquoise tee. If you like my design please vote for my design and you can see this shirt printed. The DBH 10K 2010

Designbyhumans.com is having their 3rd annual DBH 10K contest. You get to have a chance to win $10,000. Yes, that prize is $10,000. Link 75 Skull tees that don't suck @ IAMTHETREND

One blog I like to check regularly is IAmTheTrend. They feature articles on clothing(mostly t-shirts), art, music, and film. This one article. I think with the flooded t-shirts with skulls due to Ed Hardy & Affliction there are some creative skull tees. Now I know skulls on t-shirts have been around for a while, but it seems that they were popularized a little more when those two companies became a trend. I collaborated a t-shirt design for Branded Baron with designer Collision Theory aka A.J. Dimarucot and I have to say it would have definitely made this. When that is released I'll post it and maybe my portion of the design process.
