Hydro 74 Hardcover book

As you may know by the occasional post, I'm a fan of Joshua Smith aka Hydro74. He recently had a hardcover book of 50 illustrations on pre-order. I pre-ordered the book and I received it early from the original date it was said it was supposed to arrive. I received it and it contained some sweet looking stickers. The book is thin, but you can see all the details up close in personal. It's a good reference book, but it's good to see how he created each design. Not all of the designs are on his portfolio, but those that are, it's good that you don't have to constantly go on his site to view. It's now $45, but it's worth it. I enjoy art books by various designers/artists, so it was a treat for me.

Below is what the pages would look like.

Dream Level-1 T-shirt by Collision Theory

AJ Dimarucot aka Collision Theory is a beast when it comes to designing t-shirts or designs in general. He is certainly talented at composing some great graphics. A winner on Threadless, Designbyhumans, and various other competition sites as well as being commissioned from various companies like Nike, he continues to show why people love his designs. "Dream Level-1" is one of my favorite, if not my favorite design he's done. The colors are perfect and definitely stand out on the black tee. The use of negative space is very well done. AJ drew inspiration from the movie Inception, which is probably a reason why you see a tree grow so out of bridge. If you've purchased a DesignbyHumans tee, then you know that the quality of the shirt is very good, true to size, and the printing if very well done. For $19 plus shipping, I say this is a shirt worth wearing.

Inspiration: Paulo Arrarian

Here are some designs created by illustrator Paulo Arrarian. They're graffiti influenced and I think these stand out. When Nike commissions artists to design for them, I always feel that every designer kills it. Then again, why wouldn't they? Nike did hire them for a reason, because they were beginning to be everyone's radar.

Walk on the moon

Here's a concept that I wanted to try out. I have it by itself and even placed it on a tee, just to see what it would look like. I used a Nike Dunk High as the sneaker whiche the moon and space are in.What are your thoughts?

Chun-li and Ryu paintings by Rodney Fuentebella

As I was looking up info about the new Nike Dunks Street Fighter series, I came across these images. These are very interesting watercolor paintings that definitely captured by eye. I like that the figures are more abstract and does not show the anatomical details. I like the warm colors used in the Ryu painting. I do like the composition of Chun-Li better and the splatter in the background. I like them, but what do you think about the work painted by Rodney Fuentebella?

Futura x Yankees x Nike Collaboration

12ozProphet Presents... Futura x Yankees x Nike from 12ozprophet on Vimeo.

Celebrating the sport of baseball and the legacy of a team that continues to dominate, Nike Sportswear brought together two legends - Futura and the Yankees - to help usher in Baseball Season's 2010 Opening Day.

In case you don't already know, Futura is a massive baseball fan and has frequently collaborated with Nike over the years, so bringing him on board once again for this latest Be True installment was a natural fit. The result is a capsule collection released by Nike Sportswear in cooperation with the New York Yankees. The collection is inspired by a genuine love for sport and showcases an entirely new remix of Yankees graphics, slogans and iconography released on both apparel and footwear.

Being an all around nice guy and good friends with the whole crew, Futura dropped by the studio the other day to discuss baseball, the Yankees and this latest Nike collab. Here's a short video brought to you by Also Known As and 12ozProphet highlighting some of it.
