The Sketchbook Project 2012

The 2012 Sketchbook Project, is something that you should check out and would be a fun project indeed.

"Art House Co-op just launched the 2012 Sketchbook Project in an effort to create the world’s largest library of artists’ sketchbooks. Building from the success of the 2011 Project, which featured more than 10,000 books from 94 countries, the Brooklyn-based organization revealed plans to take the 2012 Tour around the world for the first time.

The Sketchbook Project encourages artists of all backgrounds to sign up online and receive a blank sketchbook by mail. The completed books are then sent back to Art House and exhibited at partner venues across the globe, before being cataloged in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Art Library.
In addition to a ten-city tour across the United States, the 2012 Project will visit Toronto, Vancouver, London and Melbourne, marking the traveling library’s first international exhibitions. Patrons visit the library to explore the collection, checking out sketchbooks and interacting with participating artists and Art House librarians. Artists are notified electronically when their books are viewed – from anywhere in the world.

Participants come from diverse backgrounds – working artists, full-time parents, busy professionals, students – but unite to share their process with each other and the public. The Sketchbook Project unites creative people of all ages and backgrounds to foster process and dialogue across cultural and geographic boundaries. It’s also a lot of fun.
To participate in the project and to get a sketchbook that will go on the tour, please click here.
Thanks and have fun!"

365 Days of Creativity -Day 48, 49, 50, 51, 52

Day 48-Sketching ideas for a baseball design

Day 49-I admit this was rushed, because I was out all day and had about 2 minutes of free time. I still like the idea of the stick figure climbing up my page.

Day 50- Random sketches on one of my sketchbook pages

Day 51- I wanted to create a simple horror poster by learning this shadowy figure technique. I know what I want to do next time I create this design.

Day 52- I know I had to kick up my 365 days of creativity up a notch, so I sketching and came up with some I look forward to working with on the computer.

365 Days of Creativity -Day 6

Here's a sketch that I was working on earlier in the day. I came across a lot of stock photos and photos reference in my laptop. I have a Powerbook, so you can say it's a bit "dated". I'm glad I came across the folder while I was viewing them, because it sparked some ideas for the future of this daily project. I'm definitely hoping to improve as a designer and as an artist in a year.
I sketched this a face, just trying to get back into the routine of drawing faces again. I feel as though I haven't kept my fine arts talent up to date when it relies on portraits, so my talent isn't where it should be. Then again, I'm a graphic designer with illustration skills and I'm better at the computer, although I believe you should be good at both on and off the computer. I do constantly sketch through my sketchbooks, but lately I've been feeling in a funk when just working on my own stuff. Hopefully this pushes me.

Quick design sketch of a woman's face

Here's a quick drawing I did earlier. It's a drawing that I decided to add some watercolor texture to. Originally it was done in marker, but I decided last minute that I think adding some texture would make it pop. I wanted to keep the details very simple.
