The Blue Lady by Richard Davies
Richard Davies is a Welsh graphic designer. The Blue Lady is a personal piece that he painted entirely digitally using a graphics tablet. It forced Davies to go back to his old strengths of drawing and painting. The image is loosely based on Vladimir Tretchikoff’s "The Green Lady".

365 Days of Creativity -Day 6
Here's a sketch that I was working on earlier in the day. I came across a lot of stock photos and photos reference in my laptop. I have a Powerbook, so you can say it's a bit "dated". I'm glad I came across the folder while I was viewing them, because it sparked some ideas for the future of this daily project. I'm definitely hoping to improve as a designer and as an artist in a year.
I sketched this a face, just trying to get back into the routine of drawing faces again. I feel as though I haven't kept my fine arts talent up to date when it relies on portraits, so my talent isn't where it should be. Then again, I'm a graphic designer with illustration skills and I'm better at the computer, although I believe you should be good at both on and off the computer. I do constantly sketch through my sketchbooks, but lately I've been feeling in a funk when just working on my own stuff. Hopefully this pushes me.

365 Days of Creativity -Day 3
Here's a quick sketch for today's goal. I'm still sketching away. I scanned something else, that I plan on working with color tomorrow. I just like the potential I can do with the face if I continue working on it.

McBess Live Drawing Video
Here is another video of an artist recording the work that they're doing. McBess has a pretty cool style and it's interesting how everything is created from the beginning to the end in this wall drawing. To view more of McBess's work go to mcbess.com

Quick design sketch of a woman's face
Here's a quick drawing I did earlier. It's a drawing that I decided to add some watercolor texture to. Originally it was done in marker, but I decided last minute that I think adding some texture would make it pop. I wanted to keep the details very simple.

Drawing a Tattered Scroll From Scratch
This is another video from Jeff Finley, but unlike the Wacom Tutorial, this isn't a clear step by step video. It's an interesting video and you see how he transfers the art from Photoshop to Illustrator to make it into a vector image, but there's no clear explanation.

Animation: Pivot The Movie
This a very intriguing animation video that a college classmate and fellow graphic designer sent me. The images are very 3D and choppy, but the concept is an interesting one. This video had me wondering if the protagonist will escape the trouble that he came across.
Here is the plot for this movie:
When a man is witness to a murder and takes pictures of the killer, he has to run for his life. During the chase he is able to turn the tables and the prey becomes the hunter. All resulting in an unfortunate ending.
The film is designed and animated by: Kevin Megens, Floris Vos, Arno de Grijs, André Bergs
Music and sound design by Alex Debicki.
Script by Jan Eduards.
Produced by il Luster Productions.
2009
