Ink Pad for the iPad - Vector Program

There's this vector program you can use on your iPad called "Inkpad". I heard it was simple, intuitive, and you can save your work as a pdf, so you can open it up in Illustrator. Now that's great. I always wanted to be able to work on something on my iPad, since I find iPads to be pointless. It's available for $2.99 at the iTunes store.

This is what one designer was able to do using it.

How do I get freelance work by Jessica Hische

Designer and lettering extraordinaire Jessica Hische gives her advice on how to gain some more freelance work. Some great points she make are don't be a dick, befriend other designers(which I agree is very necessary, since I too saw many other designers as competition at first), enter competitions, and do work for friends. From my experience, working with friends is a hit or miss. The important key there is to make sure you strictly keep it professional and business only. Anyway, you can read more of this useful article at Jessica's website http://jessicahische.is/obsessedwiththeinternet/andbeingranty/how-do-i-get-freelance-work/

365 Days of Creativity -Day 14

This is the color version of the line art that I worked on yesterday. I wanted to work on this in Photoshop instead of Illustrator. In my opinion it's ok at best, but maybe I'll enjoy once I take my eyes away from the computer. Maybe it would be interesting to see what it looks like if I did it in Illustrator. Should I work on this for one of my days of "365 Days of Creativity"?

Here's the original sketch.

365 Days of Creativity -Day 10

Here's a preview of a bigger project that I'm working on. I was debating about working on this in Photoshop or Illustrator and I decided to take it to Illustrator. I'm excited, because this was for a series I had planned for 2 years and I'm now getting around to it.

Ray-Ban Rare Prints by Andreas Krapf

Andreas Kraphf was hired to create some illustrations for Ray-Ban posters. He was assigned to have his design based on the "swirl-pattern" of their glasses. He made everything in Vector and it's insane to see the path view in Adobe Illustrator for this design. To view more click here

Mix206.com makes me a Certified Artoholik

I'd like to thank Iquan for featuring me on the art & design blog "Mix206.com". I'm featured as a "Certified Artoholik" and his paragraph is short, but sweet. I'm assuming he wanted my work to speak for itself. Make sure you check out Mix206.com it's a cool blog that features "package of the day". Iquan is head of the blog and runs his own design agency "Artoholiks", so it's a cool feeling to be recognized by another designer.

Drawing a Tattered Scroll From Scratch

This is another video from Jeff Finley, but unlike the Wacom Tutorial, this isn't a clear step by step video. It's an interesting video and you see how he transfers the art from Photoshop to Illustrator to make it into a vector image, but there's no clear explanation.

Watercolor Tutorial-Add another element to your design

Here is a video on creating some watercolor ink washes for your designs. This video will take a step by step on how to create the ink wash and then applying it in Photoshop. I've used this technique and added it to some designs. I even used the ink to create splatters for my arsenal of design tools. After I post this, I'm going to create some watercolor effects. Enjoy!
