Tees from Labyrinth Clothing

Labyrinth is a t-shirt line that has some great soft shirts with clean designs. I'm a fan and I now own 2 tees. The tees are affordable with the most expensive tee being $18. There are other items like a hoodie and a backpack, so I would check them out most definitely.

The two shirts that I own are "Portal" which is based on Ancient Mayan labyrinths. The shirt is more maroon than what you see online, but it's a nice color indeed. The other design I own is the "Infinite" tee which is a cool clean design. The prints are soft just like the tees and I recommend you grab a tee or two. Labyrinth is a brand you should definitely check out and I will continue to see what they are doing in the future.

7 Things Designers can learn from standup comics

Michael Bierut wrote a very good article about what designers can learn from comics. It's very interesting and I think they make sense. He was watching a show on HBO with comics Jerry Seinfeld, Louis C.K., Chris Rock, and Ricky Gervais and saw what they said was very relevant to designers like the basics. I think everyone can focus on the basics and get that down pat and it'll make life easier. Bierut adds to the list "don't be afraid of failure", "honor you craft", and "know your tools." To read everything he adds in further detail please read the article here.

How do I get freelance work by Jessica Hische

Designer and lettering extraordinaire Jessica Hische gives her advice on how to gain some more freelance work. Some great points she make are don't be a dick, befriend other designers(which I agree is very necessary, since I too saw many other designers as competition at first), enter competitions, and do work for friends. From my experience, working with friends is a hit or miss. The important key there is to make sure you strictly keep it professional and business only. Anyway, you can read more of this useful article at Jessica's website http://jessicahische.is/obsessedwiththeinternet/andbeingranty/how-do-i-get-freelance-work/

Check out his Behance portfolio at http://www.behance.net/DayneHenry Dayne Henry Jr. is a graphic designer and comic book artist who's been working professionaly for around 10 years.
